Cattle cause Thanksgiving crash in Napoleon

NAPOLEON, Ind. — Cows in the Chick-Fil-A commercials are destined to get us to stop consuming beef and “EAT MOR CHIKIN.”

It appears one local farmer unfortunately had to deal with cattle looking to join the cause even when the nation was celebrating Turkey Day.

Ripley County deputies responded to U.S. 421 north of Napoleon for an accident involving cattle on the roadway around 5:20 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

An Osgood driver told police there were several cows on the road and she had struck at least two. The driver was taken to the hospital for wrist injuries, deputies said.

Two cows were killed in the crash and the vehicle suffered extensive front end damage.

Officers discovered three additional cows near the accident scene and were able to contain the livestock until the owner arrived. The cows were rounded up and taken to the owners property around 8:30 a.m.
