BROOKVILLE, Ind. – The Alco store in Brookville is closing, along with another 198 of its stores in 23 states.

The discount retailer is making the move after a U.S. Bankruptcy court in Dallas approved an order to allow the company to begin going-out-of-business sales.

Brookville’s closure will result in the loss of 14 jobs, with about 3,000 nationwide that will be unemployed, the Brookville Democrat reports.

The company was founded in 1901 and traditionally served smaller communities with limited access to other retail chains.
