Batesville, In. — Local communities recently received more than $2.1 million in state matching grants to improve roads and bridges, according to Republican state representative from Batesville Cindy Ziemke.
Established in 2016, the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has awarded nearly $400 million in state funds to local projects around the state on a 50/50 matching basis.
“These grants are an exciting development for our community,” Ziemke said. “The funding from this program will go toward road resurfacing and preservation, and bridge rehabilitation and replacement. These projects will attract more businesses to our area and make our roads safer for all travelers.”
According to Ziemke, three counties and two communities were awarded grants:
