(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County Community Foundation recently awarded its second capital campaign check since beginning its capital campaign grant process in 2023.
The Decatur County Family YMCA was the recipient of a $50,000 grant to assist with roof repairs.
The Y’s current roof is deteriorating from the inside out, resulting in leaking, sags and damage to the structure’s integrity.
The roof is at risk of failure during heavy snow, winds, and rain.
The YMCA received an OCRA grant to assist with the repairs, with the Community Foundation contributing $50,000 toward the project.
“We appreciate the Community Foundation for its continued support of the Decatur County Family YMCA,” said YMCA Executive Director Diane Hart-Dawson. “With the Foundation’s help the Y is able to continue its mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.”
The YMCA capital grant is just the second that the DCCF has awarded since it began offering capital campaign grants last fall. The first recipient was Speranza House to assist with the opening of a second recovery home.
“Our capital grants are made possible through the generosity of our donors,” explained DCCF Executive Director Tami Wenning. “When donations are made to our general community-wide grantmaking funds, those gifts are invested with the oversight of our Investment Committee. The returns off of those investments are what we use to grant back out into the community for projects like this.”
