WASHINGTON, D.C. — Local Marine Kelsee Lainhart continues to make strides in her recovery at Walter Reed Hospital after she was severely wounded in last month’s terrorist attack at the Kabul, Afghanistan airport.

Lainhart has had her feeding tube removed and is eating solid foods.

In a Caring Bridge post, her mother writes that Lainhart has been driving a motorized wheelchair through the halls and is excited to start rehab.

In addition, Cpl Lainhart has received cards and letters from all over the country.

Lainhart is a 2019 East Central High School graduate and will celebrate her 20th birthday next week.
