(Decatur County, IN) – Are you part of an organization that develops programming for women and children in Decatur County?
If so, your group may be eligible for a special grant from the Decatur County Community Foundation (DCCF).
Grant applications are now open through The Fund for Women and Girls, a grant designed to assist with local programming that improves the lives of that demographic in Decatur County.
The Fund for Women and Girls was established in 2004.
Since its inception, the fund has doled out more than $46,000 toward projects assisting women and children. Past projects have included: Decatur County 4-H Council’s Safe Sitter program; New Directions Safety Courses; and a Mammography Assistance Program at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
The Fund has also provided scholarship opportunities to women returning to school to further their education.
The grant is open through February 28. One grant for $1,500 and two for $1,000 is available.
In coordination with the grant, DCCF is hosting a Garden Tea Part event on Wednesday, April 23. A committee, led by Emily Steele, is planning an evening that will feature a female-owned business and a DIY project. Event sponsors are currently being sought. Tickets for that event will be available soon. Proceeds will benefit the Fund for Women and Girls, and in turn future projects in Decatur County.
