(Franklin County, IN) – A Laurel woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash that happened at the intersection of State Road 1 and Rhein Road northeast of Brookville Wednesday around 5:17 p.m.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the preliminary investigation indicates a 2010 Ford Fusion driven by 81-year-old Rosa Banks pulled into the intersection from Rhein Road and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2021 Toyota Tacoma traveling on State Road 1.
Banks was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger in her car, 33-year-old Robbie Dale Rae, was injured and treated on site by emergency personnel.
The pickup truck driver, 32-year-old David Tyler Hokey, was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by Sgt. Adam Henson with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistance at the scene was provided by Letts EMS, the Brookville Fire Department and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say further updates will be provided once additional information becomes available.
