FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — A woman was airlifted after she crashed into a garbage truck in Franklin County late last week.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says that Abigail G. Blake, 21, was traveling south on State Road 121 south of Sleck Lane.
Police say Blake told them that she looked away from the roadway for just a moment before the sun started shining in her eyes.
She then realized that she was about to crash into a stopped garbage truck and attempted to avoid the collision.
The driver of the truck, Albert G. Morris Jr., 51, went to check on Blake after the collision.
Indiana Conservation Officers came upon the scene of the accident moments after it happened.
They administered first aid to Blake who they say was trapped in her vehicle.
Firefighters extracted Blake, and she was flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Morris was not injured in the crash. Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs are factors in the crash.
