William M. “Bill” Ison, 95, of Moores Hill, Indiana, passed away Thursday August 13, 2020 in Moores Hill, Indiana.
He was born August 9, 1925 in Oscaloosa, KY, son of the late Dewey Ison and Minnie (Brown) Ison.
Bill served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was very patriotic and served several years with the Honor Guard.
He worked as an Assembly Supervisor for Aurora Casket Company, retiring after over 10 years of service.
Bill was a member of the Moores Hill American Legion and the Aurora Eagles. Bill always participated in the American Legions Still Board Target Shoot, he especially loved working with the youth. He was well loved by all the neighborhood kids, and he loved spending time with them. Bill was always busy, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and playing cards with friends. He was a well loved man and always had a big smile. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
William is survived by his children, Mark Ison of Moores Hill, IN and Janice Allen of Milan, IN; sister Betina Ison of Dillsboro, IN; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deloris M. Ison; siblings, Doyle Ison, Linville Ison, Wayne Ison, Deemer Ison and Atha Ison; a son, Danny Wilson.
Friends will be received Monday, August 17, 2020, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Moores Hill/Sparta Township Fire & EMS, 16907 Manchester Street, Moores Hill, Indiana.
Private family services will be held.
Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
