William Hinton “Bill” Ravenscraft

William Hinton “Bill” Ravenscraft, 71, of Patriot, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 21st, 2024 at his home. Bill was born in Batesville, IN on June 28, 1953, a son of the late Mary W. (Brown) Ravenscraft and Charles  Ravenscraft. He was a graduate of Aurora High School, Class of 1972. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post 59. Bill married Barbara “Bobbie” (Weber) Ravenscraft on November 15, 1980, in Rising Sun, IN. Bill and Bobbie were married for over 44 years until his passing.  Bill retired from the Belterra Casino where he worked in security. He also worked for several years at the Aurora Casket Company. Bill loved the outdoors and liked to go fishing and hunting. He also had an artistic side and enjoyed woodworking and drawing. His greatest love was his family and he cherished being Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill is survived by loving wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Ravenscraft, of Patriot, IN; by his two daughters, Melissa Davis (Sam), of Vevay, IN, and Rachel Ravenscraft, of Patriot, IN; by his son, William Joe “BJ” Ravenscraft (Heather), of Rising Sun, IN;  by his grandchildren, Sam Davis (Tina), Mariah Davis (Kenyon Bledsoe), Cameron Davis, Lucas Davis, Charlie Yocum, Austin Yocum, Alex Yocum, Alisabeth Ravenscraft, William N. Ravenscraft and Eli Ravenscraft; by his great-grandchildren, Angel Hopkins, Jamison Clark, Spencer Davis and Nova Bledsoe and by many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ravenscraft, by his sister, Linda Welling, by his son-in-law, Darrell Yocum and by his great-grandson, Owen Lee Davis.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, December 27th, 2024 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Tom Work officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, December 27th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
