(Indianapolis, IN) – It will be a bit easier to get around the south side of Indianapolis, starting today, particularly if you travel on westbound I-465.
The westbound lanes of the interstate had been closed since July 7 for road improvements, are being reopened two days ahead of schedule.
INDOT says the work was done in conjunction with the new I-69 interstate, which will join up at I-465 just west of the current State Road 37 interchange.

(Indianapolis, IN) – If your travels take you to I-465 on the south side of Indianapolis, get ready for another major highway construction project.
Starting after 8 pm Friday, all westbound lanes from I-65 on the south side over to I-70 on the southwest side will be closed for about three weeks.
The work is being done in conjunction with the new I-69 project, which will join up with I-465 near the current State Road 37 by the beginning of 2025.
As part of the interstate closure, all ramps from various roadways such as East Street, State Road 37, and Kentucky Avenue to westbound I-465 will be closed as well.
Officials suggest using city streets from east to west and vice versa as your best alternate routes.
