Virginia Mary “Ginny” Ronnebaum, age 90, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Born July 11, 1935, in Franklin County, Indiana, she was the daughter of William and Geneva (nee: William) Reidenbach. She married George W. Ronnebaum on November 15, 1955, at St. Mary of the Rock Catholic Church in St. Mary’s, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1977.
Ginny was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. Ginny was small in stature, but tenacious. After losing her husband, she raised 6 children as a single parent and lived independently until the last few days of her life. After her youngest started school, she went back to work as a secretary, bookkeeper, and tour guide at Weberding’s Carving Shop. Many St Louis Parish first communion classes passed through her tours there.
Ginny bought a mini-motor home after her husband passed and took her children on many trips around the country.
She was an avid reader with “walls and walls” of books on a vast variety of subjects in her home library. Ginny enjoyed sewing and made or repaired many of her children’s clothes through the years. She looked forward to garage sales, early morning Kroger trips and weekend cruising around the countryside usually ending up at a fast-food drive-thru.
Ginny believed in expressing her opinions and many politicians, editors and businesses received passionate letters from her over the years.
Grandkids remember McDonalds trips for french fries and a pop, hanging out after school or work, Goodwill shopping excursions and birthday cards with a single dollar bill for every year.
She is survived by her daughters Patty Ronnebaum and Rita (Mike) Fritsch, both of Batesville, Linda (Gerry) Ostendorf of Greensburg, Indiana, and Mary Jo Werner of Sunman, Indiana; sons Dan (Heather) Ronnebaum of Choteau, Montana and Scott (Amy) Ronnebaum of Batesville; sister Laverne “Kay” Reidenbach and brother Harry Reidenbach, both of Brookville, Indiana; grandchildren Josh (Whitney) Werner, Christy (Aaron) Werner, AJ Werner, Willy Werner, Susan (Dustin) Kohrman, Jonathan Ronnebaum, Shelby (Dave) Ronnebaum and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband George, she was preceded in death by her brother Richard Reidenbach, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, November 1st, from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville, with a rosary service at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church, with Fr Stan Pondo officiating.
