(Batesville, IN) – Get ready to experience baseball like it was played more than a century ago.

An authentic vintage Base Ball game will be played Saturday, September 27 at 1 p.m. at historic Batesville Liberty Park’s Ace Moorman Field.

After last year’s well-attended event, the two teams decided to return to Batesville for a rematch.

The White River Base Ball Club from Strawton, Illinois claimed a thrilling 13-11 win over the Red Stockings – a team associated with the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.

Players will wear 19th-century-style uniforms, follow historic rules, and even play barehanded, just like the game’s pioneers.

A few local “Lumbermen” will act as “revolvers,” the free agents of the past, and play, as needed.

Organizers say attendees will be transported back to the days when the game was more about camaraderie and less about competition.

Admission is free, and you’re encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket.
