Veterans group awards nursing scholarships

Lawrenceburg, In. — Members of the local chapter of 40 & 8 La Société des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (the Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses) awarded nursing scholarships to 17 area students.  

The recipients of the 40 & 8 Voiture 612 Nurses Scholarship recipients are:

Recipient of the 40 & 8 Voiture 612 JoAnn Niemeyer Scholarship:

Recipient of the 40 & 8 Voiture 612 Earnest and Vera Glaub Scholarship:

Madison Leffingwell (currently in third year of Nursing Training at Ball State University)

All high school students in Franklin, Dearborn, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland counties are eligible.

The Forty & Eight was founded in 1920 by American veterans returning from France.  Originally an arm of The American Legion, the Forty & Eight became an independent and separately incorporated veteran’s organization in 1960.  Membership is by invitation of honorably discharged veterans and honorably serving members of the United States Armed Forces.
