(Franklin/Dearborn Counties, IN) – A woman was arrested Sunday afternoon following a two-county chase that began in New Trenton.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy on routine patrol in the area spotted a traffic violation committed by the woman.
Investigators say the deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver failed to comply and fled the scene.
A pursuit followed along U.S. 52 and continued for four miles into Dearborn County.
The chase ended when the vehicle went off the road and collided with a tree.
Forty-nine-year-old Diane Duffy of Cleves, Ohio was safely removed from the vehicle and arrested.
During the investigation, deputies found suspected controlled substances in the vehicle.
Those items have been submitted for further tests.
Duffy was booked in the Franklin County Security Center on several preliminary charges, including drug possession and resisting law enforcement.
