UPDATE: Local Counties Move to Watch Travel Status

(Southeastern IN) – Ripley and Franklin counties moved from the Red Warning to Orange Watch travel status Tuesday morning, and Decatur County was set to follow suit at Noon.

A “Watch” means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a “watch” local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended.

Dearborn County has been on watch status since the start of the storm.

Ripley, Franklin and Decatur counties had been under the Red Warning status, which is the highest level of local travel advisory. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security says that means travel may be restricted to emergency workers only.

The travel advisories were issued at the height of the winter storm that started Sunday and continued into Monday.
