(Decatur County, IN) – A suspect is in custody following a police chase that started in Shelby County and ended in Decatur County at the entrance to Lake McCoy late Wednesday night.
Shelby and Decatur County law enforcement were involved in the pursuit, which entered Decatur County shortly before 11 p.m. and traveled from eastbound I-74, proceeded south on the SR 3 Bypass, and went down Lincoln St. to Barachel Lane.
The suspect’s vehicle, a Dodge Charger, was riding on its rims and had three flat tires after Greensburg Police officers successfully deployed stop sticks.

The pursuit continued to eastbound State Road 46, where law enforcement blocked the entrance to Lake McCoy.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Jody Anderson of Greensburg, then crashed into a Sheriff’s Office vehicle, which was flashing its red and blue emergency lights.
That’s when the chase ended and Anderson was arrested without incident.
The sheriff’s office says Anderson had an outstanding Decatur County warrant on several charges, including Kidnapping, Criminal Confinement (both Level 4 felonies), Domestic Battery, Strangulation and Intimidation (all Level 6 felonies).
A request for additional charges stemming from the pursuit are being presented to the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office.
No one was injured during the chase, but Anderson was taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital as a precaution.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says assistance was provided by the Shelbyville Police Department; Shelby County Sheriff’s Office; Greensburg Police Department; Indiana State Police; Decatur County EMS; Decatur County Communications, and Platinum Towing Service.
