Batesville, IN — Members of United Steelworkers 525U held a rally outside the Batesville Hillrom facility Friday afternoon in an effort to keep jobs in the area.

Hillrom, which was purchased by Baxter last year, reportedly plans to send at least 70 jobs to Mexico next year.

Several elected union officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told WRBI they work for a great company, want local workers to keep their jobs, and to keep jobs in the community.

The union plans to meet with company officials soon.

It hasn’t been determined if another rally will be held after that meeting.
