Unemployment up in all four local counties in January

Southeastern IN — The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says unemployment was up in all four of our area counties in January.

Decatur County had the lowest jobless rate last month at 2.8%, which was below the state average of 3.1 but up from 2.1% in December.

Dearborn County’s unemployment rate went up to 3.3% in January from 2.3 the month before.

Franklin County also jumped from 2.3% in December; its January jobless rate came in at 3.5%.

Ripley County had the area’s highest unemployment rate last month at 3.7%. That’s up from 2.7% in December.
