INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is releasing new information detailing the August unemployment rate in Indiana counties.
The agency released preliminary numbers Friday, showing a slight decline to 5.8 percent statewide in August.
Decatur County’s August rate was 4.8 percent, down from 5.1 percent in July, remaining the lowest in the region.
Ripley County dropped from 6.2 percent in July to 5.8 percent in August, mirroring the statewide average.
The unemployment rate in Franklin County grew in August to 5.7 percent, opposed to 5.3 percent in July. The unemployment rate in Dearborn County was one-tenth of a percentage point higher at 6.0 percent, compared to 5.9 percent in July.
The jobless rate in Fayette County is second highest in the state at 7.4 percent, however, declined from July’s 7.8 percent.
