Two local pantries, school receive Duke Energy hunger relief grants

Plainfield, IN — Two local food pantries and a school are among 25 organizations across Indiana to receive grants from the Duke Energy Foundation to help feed Hoosier families in need.

The Greensburg Community Bread of Life and Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Decatur County each received $1,500, while Franklin County High School was awarded $2,500.

The grants totaling $100,000 across the state will support the purchase of canned goods, fresh produce, and essential supplies to address food insecurity across Duke’s Indiana service territory.

“Food is the most basic of needs, and there are organizations throughout the state that provide a lifeline to Hoosiers who may not know where their next meal will come from,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “They fill a vital role in the communities we serve, and we’re committed to supporting their work to help increase food access for those in need.”
