Twisters Win Close Soccer Battle With Tigers

#4 [1A] OA travel to #20 [2A] Lawrenceburg on Tuesday night for a varsity match. OA came away with a hard fought 2-1 win. It was an exciting finish between two evenly matched teams.

Max Kirschner scored in Period 1 at 35:10 on a chest shot inside the 6 yard box, assisted by Lucas McFee’s service from a corner kick. (Very nice ball placement from the corner). Lawrenceburg scored in period 2 at 13:22 on a long cross into the 6 that was headed in. Matthew ‘Rocks’ Hoog scored the game winning goal in period 2 at 3:52 on a rebound from the keeper save. The assist goes to Gariott Scott who’s 10 yard rocket shot deflected off the keeper. This was Matthew’s first ‘official’ goal of his OA career. Yes he scored against International Friday night, but that was a scrimmage….

OA had 12 shots with 6 on goal, 8 fouls, 3 corners, 2 hand balls and Chris Hautman had 5 saves.

Lawrenceburg had 13 shots with 6 on goal, 7 corners, 1 off sides, 5 fouls, 1 hand ball and their keeper had 4 saves.

The last Twisters win at Lawrenceburg was 2-0 in 2012.

The last Twisters win vs. Lawrenceburg was 1-0 in 2013 at the Graveyard.

“It was very high intensity game and our team was there every part of the game in defense, midfield and offense. It is a great pleasure to see the mix of classic and modern soccer within this developing team. Very proud of our guys” Twisters Coach Ken Getz.
