(Indianapolis, IN) – The quick actions of a trooper from Indiana State Police Versailles Post and one of his colleagues are being credited with saving the life of a choking teenage girl last weekend at the Indiana State Fair.

Detective Vincent Scott and another uniformed trooper were patrolling the midway on foot around 9:20 last Saturday morning when Scott saw a girl begin choking and indicating she couldn’t breathe after taking a drink from a lemon shakeup.

ISP says Trp. Scott immediately performed the Heimlich Maneuver, and after giving three thrusts, an object in the teen’s throat was dislodged and she was able to breathe.

While Scott was tending to the victim, Trooper Ryan Hale from the Fort Wayne Post radioed for on-site EMS to respond to the scene to provide further treatment.

The girl was taken to the fairgrounds medical facility to be monitored.

Indications are that she will make a full recovery without any lasting effects.

Trp. Scott is a five-year State Police veteran.

Trp. Hale has served nearly two years with ISP.
