Oldenburg Academy varsity baseball couldn’t extend their win streak to 3 games as they fell to the Tigers of Triton Central Monday night with a score of 11-2 on Monday.
“We had our opportunities early in the game, and we just couldn’t capitalize. We had the bases loaded twice early in the game and left them loaded to end the inning. Just timely hitting.” Coach Kolks said.
Triton Central put the game away in the fifth scoring four runs to give them a 7-0. The Tigers’ offense in the inning was led by Avynn Whitaker, Nick Riggins, and Cole Thomas, all sending runners across the plate with RBI in the inning.
The Twisters would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning, but it was too much to overcome, as the Tigers would score 4 more runs before the end of the game.
Hayden Beaver was the winning pitcher for Triton Central. Beaver lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one. Blaine Raider and Whitaker entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Jacob Stenger took the loss for the Twisters. Stenger went four innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out one.
The Twisters scattered four hits in the game. Alex Sizemore and Cy Muckerhide collected two hits to lead the team.
