Traffic Stop Leads to Fugitive’s Arrest

(Dearborn County, IN) – A man who had been a fugitive from justice since 2006 was arrested in Dearborn County on Wednesday.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says Koba Shinjikashvili was arrested during a traffic stop after Deputy Max Meddings spotted multiple violations.

During the stop, Deputy Meddings learned through the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, that Shinjikashvili was a fugitive.

A search of his van turned up controlled substances and multiple syringes.

Shinjikashvili was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, and marijuana possession.

In addition, ICE placed a detainer on him after he was taken into custody.
