Tourism Board receives update on Decatur County Bicentennial plans

GREENSBURG, IN — The Greensburg/Decatur County Tourism Board received an update Thursday from John Pratt on Bicentennial events.

Pratt told the board there are some special plans for Memorial Week starting Monday.

“We are looking to decorate the graves of several thousand local veterans,” Pratt said.

He added the first in the series of Bicentennial concerts at the Rebekah Park Amphitheater will take place Sunday at 2 pm with a performance by the Columbus City Band.

In addition, there will also be two events in the Cleo Duncan Lecture Series Tuesday, May 24, and Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 pm at the Greensburg/Decatur County Public Library.

“Tuesday will be Gerald Carbone from Rhode Island presenting on General Nathanael Greene, while Thursday will be Bob Allison from Boston presenting on Stephen Decatur,” said Pratt.

A schedule of Bicentennial events can be found at VisitGreensburg.com and on the Decatur County Bicentennial Facebook page.
