Thomas W. Warfield, 86, of Correct, passed away at 2:12pm Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. Tom was born on June 13, 1939 in Batesville, Indiana to Carl and Lucille (Gookins) Warfield. He was a 1958 graduate of Versailles High School. Tom married Lois (Nickell) Warfield on June 26, 1965. For many years Tom worked alongside his father hauling livestock and water. In 1969, he and his father established Warfield Fertilizers, which was in business for 23 years. Tom was employed by South Ripley School Corporation for many years as a bus driver. In retirement, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, mowing grass, fishing and enjoying nature. He always bragged that he had only lived in 3 houses, not even a mile apart in Correct, Indiana his entire life. Tom and Lois celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Charlie Rogers. Survivors include his wife Lois, daughter Libby (Brian) Spencer of Mount Pleasant, WI, son Eric Warfield (Burnetta Skaggs) of Correct, daughter Amy (Danny) Matzet of Correct; grandchildren Drew Spencer of Mount Pleasant, WI, Michaela (Parker) Tant of Deputy, Abby Spencer of Mount Pleasant, WI, Carly Zoller of Correct and great-granddaughter Collins Tant; one sister Rebecca Rogers of Carmel. He also has numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Versailles Fire Department or Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
