Thomas Allen Jewett, 96, Dillsboro

       Thomas Allen Jewett, 96, of Dillsboro passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan, IN. He was born on July 7, 1928 to Walter and Goldia (Ruhlman) Jewett. He married his highschool sweetheart, Dorothy Block, on November 27, 1948. Together they built a beautiful life, raising four children and building their forever log cabin on the hill.

Tom lived a life full of adventure. He saw much of the US working as a truck driver for Schenley until he retired at the age of 62. He traveled frequently in his personal life, as well. They often visited friends in Florida, explored Hawaii, and ventured to many other places across the country. Back home, he enjoyed spending weekends at the Friendship NMLRA campground and participating in the shoot. He also had horses for many years and shared his love for them with his son, Keith.

Thomas was a pillar in his community. He was a Mason for 60 years and a member of the Shriners since 1980. He also joined Eastern Star with Dot and was a longtime member of Dillsboro Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Finally, he was selected as Grand Marshall alongside Dot for the Dillsboro Homecoming Parade in 2013.

Tom was a proud father to Karen (Gary) Kirkpatrick, Denver Jewett, Keith Jewett, and Beth (Robert) Strassell. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Shane (Dana) Jewett, Chad (Kim) Jewett, Kasey (Tasha) Kirkpatrick, Korey (Roseanna) Kirkpatrick, Jason (Kelly) Robbins, Jessie (Jason) Manlove, Sarah (Ryan) Teer, Alex (Russina) Strassell, along with fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, of 75 years, as well as his parents, brother, two sons, two sons-in-law, and one great-great grandchild.

Family and friends may gather in remembrance of Tom from 11 AM- 1 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro, IN. Masonic services will be held at 12:45 PM led by Allen Goodman. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Ruling Preaching Elder Dori Martz officiating. He will be laid to eternal rest at Oakdale Cemetery immediately following.

Tom’s passing leaves a great void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will be celebrated with many stories of his orneriness, strong head, and soft heart for those he held most dear. Memorials for Tom can be made to the Southeastern Indiana Shrine Club for transportation for the children
