Sunman Woman Flown From Tractor vs. Minivan Crash

(Sunman, IN) – One person was flown to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash involving a minivan and a tractor that happened shortly after 9:30 Monday night on the 12-thousand block of State Road 101 in Sunman.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says the minivan driven by 58-year-old Tamara Fledderman of Sunman was southbound on 101 when the vehicle struck the northbound tractor, which was pulling a wide load of farming equipment.

Fledderman was trapped and had to be extricated from the wreckage by the Sunman Fire Department, and was taken by helicopter to the hospital.

The tractor driver, 69-year-old Jerald Richter of Sunman, was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office reminds you to look and pay attention for spotter vehicles, and slow-moving farming tractors or equipment that might be travelling along the roadways.

Deputies were also assisted by Ripley County Communications, Ripley County EMS, and other Ripley County first responders.
