(Sunman, IN) – A Sunman woman has been charged with Theft over $750 and Official Misconduct (both Level 6 felonies) for allegedly stealing from the town while she was employed as its utility clerk.
Fifty-nine-year-old Denise Lunsford was booked in the Ripley County Jail last week.
The charges stem from the discovery last September of a $5,662.73 discrepancy in Sunman Utility Department funds.
Charges were filed against Lunsford by the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office following Indiana State Police and State Board of Accounts investigations.
Lunsford was fired after town officials confronted her with the allegations.
She was lodged in the Ripley County Jail last week.
