(Sunman, IN) – The Town of Sunman is set to begin a stormwater improvement project on April 24.
Town officials say the work is funded by grants from the Indiana Finance Authority Transportation and Stormwater Grant Program for $169,500, and $39,000 from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation.
Tele-Vac is contracted to work along State Road 101, Eastern Avenue, and Whitetail.
They will collect sediment and debris that has built up in the sewer system using vacuum tricks and other methods.
Once the debris is cleared, the contractor will record the sewer condition to help identify the causes of drainage issues in the area.
Town leaders say several areas of VCT piping have failed over time and caused infiltration into the sewer system, which has led to localized flooding.
The goal of the project is to reduce or eliminate flooding issues, as well as improve operational efficiencies and reduce ongoing costs.
The project is expected to last anywhere from 45 to 60 days.
Traffic controls will be in place, but motorists can expect some minor delays during the work.
Officials say full details of the project are available at Sunman Town Hall.
