(St. Leon, IN) – The Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation plans to make more facility upgrades.
A series of mechanical and building improvements will be made at all three elementary schools and at East Central High School.
Those upgrades are as follows:
East Central High School
All 38 roof-top units will be replaced, and three new boilers will be installed to ensure efficient heating and cooling throughout the building.
Bright Elementary School
The building will receive all new windows, replacement of the flat portion of the roof, and new air handling units to improve energy efficiency and indoor comfort.
North Dearborn Elementary School
New boilers and outdoor condensing units will be installed to enhance the building’s overall climate control and efficiency.
Sunman Elementary School
Thirty new classroom unit ventilators will be installed, along with new boilers and the replacement of three (3) sets of exterior doors, ensuring a more comfortable and secure environment for students and staff.
All of these buildings will also receive new heating and cooling controls to allow for improved efficiency, which the school corporation says will help manage energy usage and maintain consistent comfort throughout the schools.
A total renovation of the EC Performing Arts Center is in the pipeline, along with upgrades to the main entrance, concessions and restrooms on the home side at the football and track stadium, more commonly known as Trojan Field (pictured).
“We have a really nice restroom and concession area on the north side which is the visitors side. But on the south side, which is the home side, it’s very dated,” said Superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson. “It (the revamped south entrance) will have concessions, very nice updated large restrooms, a spirit wear shop, a hospitality room for the game workers, and a new gate, entrance and ticketing booths, as well.”
Lancer Associates Architecture presented the concept design for the new ticket booth, concession, and restrooms for the home side at the football stadium.
Final drawings are being created now, with plans to bid the new facility this summer.
Construction will begin in late fall of 2025 with completion expected by the summer of 2026.
