(St. Leon, IN) – Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools are proud to announce significant gains in the latest state assessments, including the Indiana Learning Evaluation Assessment Readiness Network (ILEARN) and the SAT. These results reflect the district’s commitment to academic excellence and the effectiveness of its strategic initiatives.
In the recent ILEARN assessments, Sunman-Dearborn students demonstrated remarkable progress. The district’s scores have surpassed state averages, are the highest in the county and among the highest in the area, showcasing substantial improvements in both English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson attributes these achievements to the district’s strategic plan, which focuses on enhancing core instruction and aligning the curriculum to state standards. “Our
latest state assessment results can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff, and students,” said Dr. Jackson. “By concentrating on core instruction and aligning our
curriculum, we are seeing tangible results that benefit our entire school community.”
The latest strategic plan, launched last year, emphasizes targeted professional development for teachers, the integration of research-based best practices, and the continuous assessment of student progress.
