Statehouse— State Rep. Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they served as pages during the 2020 legislative session:
- Tim Defranne, from Osgood, attends Jac-Cen-Del High School;
- Corey Gardner, from Laurel, attends North Decatur Jr./Sr. High School;
- Pawarut Keadhuntra, from Osgood, attends Jac-Cen-Del High School;
- Tracy McKittrick, from Batesville, attends Jac-Cen-Del High School;
- Linn Sievert, from Batesville, attends Jac-Cen-Del High School; and
- Somkid Xu, from Holton, attends South Ripley High School.
Through the Indiana House Page Program, these students toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined Ziemke on the House floor to witness the legislative process.
“Touring the Statehouse, meeting your lawmakers and witnessing how government operates are a few of the benefits of paging,” Ziemke said. “It all makes for a fun and educational opportunity, and I enjoyed hosting these students for the day and hope others can participate in the future.”
Ziemke said students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating in 2021.
