Strong Showing for BHS at Milan Tri-Meet

(Milan, IN) – Batesville High School Swimming turned in a well-rounded showing Thursday night at a tri-meet hosted by Milan, where the Bulldogs competed against the Indians and Lawrenceburg in a full championship-style format.

Batesville opened the meet with solid relay performances.

The girls’ 200 Medley Relay “A” team of Cora Miller, Samantha Adams, Alexis Schiller, and Reillee Adams finished second, while the Bulldogs also fielded a developmental “B” relay to gain additional race experience.

On the boys’ side, Batesville placed second in the 200 Medley Relay, led by strong legs from Matthew Lambert and Ben Kuntz.

Individual highlights came early and often. Sam Richardson captured first place in the 200 IM, anchoring the boys’ effort with another victory later in the 100 Butterfly, where he finished third overall. Lambert earned two event wins, touching first in both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.

Distance events showcased Batesville’s depth. Collin Vogelsang won the 500 Freestyle for the boys, while Emma Miller led the Bulldogs in the girls’ 500. In the 200 Freestyle, Kuntz and Collin Vogelsang finished second and fourth respectively, contributing key points for the Bulldogs.

Sprint freestyle events also saw strong finishes, with Schiller placing third in the girls’ 50 Free, and Tripp Hertel finishing second in the boys’ 100 Free. In the 100 Breaststroke, Adams earned a second-place finish for the girls, while Leo Obermeyer and Hertel placed second and fourth in the boys’ race.

Relay depth remained a strength throughout the night. The girls’ 200 Freestyle Relay “A” team finished first overall, while the boys’ 200 Freestyle Relay “A” team also claimed a win. Batesville closed the meet with solid efforts in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with both “A” and “B” relays competing on each side.
