UPDATED: Storms rake southeastern Indiana, flood waters receding

Batesville, In. — Storms packed with lightning, wind and heavy rain rumbled through southeastern Indiana Tuesday night. The storm forced a cancellation of the Reds-Cubs contest at Great American Ball Park, closed roads and In some cases washed them completely away.

The Decatur and Ripley County Sheriff’s Departments report most travel conditions are back to normal. No serious damage reports or incidents have been investigated, yet.

Franklin County schools are operating on a two-hour delay and the sheriff’s department reports Highland Center Road is now open and the following roads are closed:

  • Barber Road in Franklin and Dearborn County
  • Blue Creek Road from Wolfe Creek Road to Cane Mill Road

In Union County portions of Kitchel Road washed away near Fouts Road near the town of Liberty.

According to the Bartholomew County Emergency Management Agency multiple areas, including locations in Columbus will be impacted by flood waters.

The National Weather Service says expect cloudy skies and high near 40-degrees, wind gusts could reach up to 38-miles-per-hour.
