(Greensburg, IN) – We have this reminder that a Sky Warn Storm Spotter Training course will be presented next Wednesday (March 11) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Decatur County Annex at 315 South Ireland Street in Greensburg.
Use Door 14 in the back of the building to enter.
The National Weather Service relies on real-time reports from trained spotters to issue warnings and save lives.
The course is free and open to anyone who would like to attend, and pre-registration is not required.
Young people are also welcome. In fact, Decatur County Emergency Management Director Michael Snyder says youngsters have taken the course.
“I know high school and junior high-aged kids have had no issues with it in the past,” Snyder said. “Also, its a very popular subject in the Amateur Radio community.”
During the class, Decatur County Emergency Management will give away two free weather alert radios, but you must be present to claim your prize.
