Stephen “Steve” Baylor, 75, Noblesville formerly Milan

Stephen C. Baylor, 75, was a devoted family man, respected businessman, and lifelong community servant of Milan, Indiana. Born on September 8, 1950 to Chester and Ruth (Hamilton) Baylor, Steve lived a full life filled with love.

Above all else, Steve was a family man. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 44 years, Judy (Lyons) Baylor. Together they built a life rooted in love and steadfast support for one another. He was a loving father to Jenny (Chris) Swisher of Noblesville, IN, and Adam (Roderick) Baylor of Tucson, AZ, and a proud and doting grandfather to Ellory (9) and Sutton (4) Swisher, who brought endless joy to his life.

A 1968 graduate of Milan High School, Steve went on to become co-owner of Baylor Trucking, where he carried forward the values of hard work and dedication that were at the heart of his family’s legacy. His love of trucks — and anything with horsepower — was more than just business; it was a passion. Whether operating a freight of 18-wheelers or cruising in his beloved yellow Corvette, Steve had a deep appreciation for the open road.

Steve was a lifelong member of the Milan United Methodist Church. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion, a Shriner, and served 16 years on the Milan School Board. He was also the recipient of the 2008 Milan Distinguished Alumni Award. He had a generous heart and believed in giving back to his community.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ruth Baylor, and his brother, Robert Baylor. He is survived by his beloved wife, sister (Bonnie Hammond), children, and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly and who will carry his spirit forward in their lives.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Monday, October 13th with visitation at 12pm and memorial service at 1pm at Milan United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Milan CARES Community Center Building fund.
