Stanley “Butch” Evans, 83, of Versailles passed away at 6:50 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near Versailles on February 6, 1941, the son of Robert and Eleanor Disbro Evans. He was married to Karen Kent on January 21, 1967 and his wife of 57 years survives. Other survivors include one son Wayne (Judy) Evans of Milan; three grandchildren Stephanie and Kenneth Evans, and Amanda (Jerrid) Powell; three great-grandchildren; one brother Danny (Evelyn) Morris of North Vernon; two sisters Karen Sue Taylor and Donna Kay Gray both of Connersville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Linda Morris. Butch was a former employee of Oatman’s Blue Flame in Versailles, but spent the majority of his working career as a loader operator for Berry Materials and Hanson Aggregates. Butch was very proud of having loaded 6,000 ton of stone in one single day. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his ranger. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Charlie Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday beginning at 12 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
