St. Nicholas Catholic School construction underway

After anxiously waiting for construction to begin following the official groundbreaking ceremony in April, students and staff watch as the first wall of their new school building is filled with concrete.

Sunman, In. — “The Builder of Everything is God”-(Hebrews 3:4) is the school theme this year at St. Nicholas Catholic School in Sunman where the parish is well underway with the construction of Phase 1; Education Center of The Heritage Project.

The students and staff have a unique opportunity to watch as the new school building is constructed outside their classroom windows.  The project continues to be a constant conversation topic on campus.  Mrs. Sherri Kirschner, Principal, says they have embraced all the craziness that goes along with this construction.  She explains, “Whenever something exciting is going to happen on the construction site, teachers are encouraged to take their students out to watch for just a few minutes.  This has alleviated potential interruptions from students making excuses to sneak a peek.”

Mrs. Kirschner emphasizes on this year’s school theme, “The Builder of Everything is God.”  “How appropriate, when we are so blessed to have the opportunity to build a new school building, allowing us to continue to spread the good news of Jesus to so many young people in southeastern Indiana.”

Through an outpouring of God’s blessings and the generosity of many families, the $3 million goal has been achieved for Phase 1; Education Center, while funds continue to be pledged/donated for phase 2; Fellowship Center.
