The St. Louis Lady Cardinals volleyball teams traveled to Franklin County Monday and won both matches in two sets.
The 7th grade Lady Cardinals won 25-7 and 25-12. Big service nights for SLS came from Mimi Smith with 17 points and 7 aces and Campbell Miles with 17 points and 6 aces. Hailee Weisenbach served 2 points while both Ava Hollins and Elena Beiser served 1 point each.
“We had great serving streaks in each game that pulled us away from Franklin County,” said coach Erin Trenkamp. “When we did get a chance to make a play on the ball, we had some awesome digs, sets and hits.”
The 8th grade Lady Cardinals also won 25-9 and 25-9. Serving points for SLS were Ashley Hunter with 12 points with 1 ace, Bridget Lohmueller 8 points with 2 aces, Rachel Suttmann 5 points with 1 ace, Kalli Obermeyer 4 pointswith 2 aces, Sophia Hohenstein 3 points, Cora Roth 2 points, and Isabel Imel 1 point.
“These ladies brought a great game of passing, setting, and hitting also,” stated Trenkamp. “Some amazing backrow kills by Cora Roth amped up the intensity. Rachel Suttmann and Bridget Lohmueller were big at the net. Kalli Obermeyer stepped in several plays to set. It was all-around great teamwork to bring home this win.”
