Both St. Louis volleyball teams came up winners at home Tuesday against Jac-Cen-Del.
The 7th grade Lady Cards won 25-5 and 25-11. Coach Erin Trenkamp reported the following serving stats: Mimi Smith 12 points with 8 aces, Campbell Miles 9 points with 7 aces, Madi Dierckman 6 points with 2 aces, Grace Gutzwiller 4 points with 2 aces, Ava Hollins 3 poits and both Jersey Trenkamp and Elena Beiser with 1 point on 1 ace each.
“We had amazing serving which made it difficult for the Eagles to return the ball for play,” said coach Trenkamp. “The plays we got to battle for, our girls had great passing, setting, and hitting. They moved well and stayed with each play.”
The 8th grade Lady Cards got it done in three games: 25-19, 21-25 and 15-9. Serving stats provided by coach Trenkamp included: Ashley Hunter with 17 points with 8 aces, Rachel Suttmann 6 points with 5 aces, Mimi Smith 6 points with 2 aces, Felicity Brelage 3 points with 2 aces, Campbell Miles 3 points and Kalli Obermeyer with 2 points.
“These ladies worked hard to make plays and gain momentum” stated Trenkamp. “They did great in game one keeping confident and making beautiful plays. Game two, we started off strong and then met a great server whom we lost control a bit with. We took it into game three and came out dominating with our serves from Ashley Hunter which gave us the plays needed to finish the game off.”
