(Batesville, IN) – Brittani Weberding’s 5th grade class at St. Louis Catholic School in Batesville participated in the “America Recycles Day” Art Contest that was held in November and hosted by the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District (SEIRD).

Local 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students were invited to participate by designing a flyer promoting recycling.

The winner’s design would be printed on a t-shirt, and each student in their classroom would be given a shirt as well.

The winner’s artwork could also be used in future SEIRD promotions.

About a month after entries were submitted, Weberding received an email stating that Wanstrath won the “Southern Indiana Recycling District Art Contest.”

His admiration for airplanes and the slogan “Recycling Will Keep You Flying High, Littering Will Get You Grounded” led to Wanstrath winning the contest.

He was awarded a trophy, t-shirts with his submission printed on them for his classmates, and some featured SEIRD publications.

Ross’s family, teacher, classmates, principal, and school celebrated his accomplishment.
