(Batesville, IN) – The St. Louis Catholic School Robotics Team received a $500 Small Project Grant from the Ripley County Community Foundation and used the money to purchase a Generation 2 VEX IQ robot kit.
Three teams previously worked with two Generation 2 and one Generation 1 robot kits. The third team was limited because their robot was older. Now all three teams have a Gen 2 robot.
The school will use the Generation 1 robots to practice driving, try different components of the robots, and test different iterations of robot parts.
Students built a robot from this kit, which they will use at Southeastern Indiana Robotics League Competitions.
“The best part of this project is the ability for the students to engage in STEM opportunities and the building of 21st Century skills. The students work as a collaborative team, using effective communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity,” said CS/STEM Teacher Jill Hollins. “They not only get to work as a team in the building of their robot, but also during the competition, too. The students work with students from other schools to score points during a timed challenge.”
