The St. Louis Boys 6th Grade Red Team took the court for their home opener vs Mt. Carmel. The Red team played Mt. Carmel hard the whole game. The first quarter saw Grant Streator and Luke Richardson score the only baskets of the quarter for the Cardinals as a last-second three helped Mt. Carmel jump out to a 9-4 lead. The second quarter saw back-and-forth action and saw the Cardinals play much better defense and go into halftime down 13-6. The Cardinals came out a little flat after halftime and allowed Mt. Carmel to go on a mini-run to increase their lead to 20-8. The Cardinals went on a small run of their own to start he 4th quarter and cut the lead to 22-13 led by Cam Anderson who had 3 of his game-high 5 points in the quarter. A couple of late baskets from Mt. Carmel made the final 28-13. The team battled hard the whole game, which was a step in the right direction. I am very proud of the effort they showed.
