St. Lawrence registration open

Lawrenceburg, In. — St. Lawrence School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana is now enrolling new and current students in preschool through 8th grade for the 2018-2019 academic year. The easy enrollment process begins online here or call 812-537-3690.

At St. Lawrence, the staff’s dedication to a Catholic education is apparent in each class, subject, and activity. The school’s goal is to help each student find their unique strengths, build on those strengths, and obtain academic and personal success while exploring and nurturing their relationship with God.

“Our staff is an incredibly dedicated group of teachers who are constantly working to improve their craft,” says Principal Mike Odar. “They are always looking at new and engaging ways to get the most spiritual and academic growth out each student. Making use of technology, tracking data, and differentiating instruction is what our teachers are always working at to help push our students. That being said, our staff is connected to St. Lawrence’s family atmosphere. Over 50 percent of our staff has students that either go or graduated from St. Lawrence. That sense of pride and family is carried over to every student!”

Although test scores don’t tell the whole story, St. Lawrence School is proud of its students’ exceptional performance on the ISTEP exam. In the 2016-2017 school year, St. Lawrence had 66.2 percent of students pass both the English/language arts and mathematics portions of the ISTEP. The figure was the best of any school or corporation in Dearborn County. An amazing 87.3 percent of St. Lawrence students passed the English/language arts section – again the best in the county.

The school also offers many extracurricular activities, including athletics, a robotics team, scouts, archery club, service club, and drama club. Principal Odar says the goal is to create a solid Christian citizen for the 21st century.

“I am extremely proud that our students and staff were awarded an A grade for the 2016-2017 school year.  We will not settle for that, as we are continuing to push our students to even greater heights.  Our students are able to take three years of Spanish, participate in robotics, archery, sing in a school musical, be on our basketball and cheerleading teams, and the junior high students can specialize in art, choir, journalism, or music. We recognize that there is more to learning than test scores, and are finding ways to have our students take ownership in their education,” Odar says.

Affording a quality, private education at St. Lawrence is easier than you may think. The Indiana School Choice Scholarship program can provide up to 90 percent of tuition costs for a family. You can learn more about the Indiana Choice Scholarship program and its income guidelines at www.doe.in.gov/choice.

“Our school offers multiple avenues for financial assistance. SGO’s, School Choice Scholarships, and assistance provided from our parishioners can help make the cost of attending more feasible for those in need. The biggest thing I would recommend is to ask. You might be surprised at what we can do to help,” says Odar.
