Sr. Teresa Marie Boersig, age 92, of Oldenburg, Indiana was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the daughter of Carl and Eleanor (Nee: Welch) Boersig and they preceded her in death.
In 1950, she entered the novitiate of the Franciscan Sisters of Oldenburg. She taught in various schools and eventually graduated from Marian College (now a University). She received a Masters degree in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and a Doctorate from Purdue. She returned to teach at Marian. She was gradually drawn to contemplative life and transferred to the Carmelite Monastary, a mile from the college.
Terese was brilliant and brought many enhancing projects to her new community. One of them was the production of a prayer book that sold 100,000 copies. Her creativity in liturgy made the monastery a very attractive and fulfilling place to pray. Terese moved on to a new life in God on Monday, November 25th, 2024.
A Liturgy of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5th, at the Sisters of St. Francis Chapel in Oldenburg, Indiana, with the burial following in the convent cemetery. For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
