Batesville shut out Union County 10-nil in girls soccer action heard Saturday on WRBI. Emma Miller recorded a hat trick for the Bulldogs. She scored all three of her goals in the first half. Earlier in the day, the Batesville boys’ soccer team blanked Union County 8-nil.

Oldenburg Academy boys’ soccer grounded the Hauser Jets 7-1 on Saturday at the Graveyard. Conner Holden scored two goals for the Twisters.

In girls’ golf on Saturday, New Palestine won the Connersville Invitational. East Central’s Rowan Pies shot a 78 to take individual medalist honors. The Trojans finished in 10th place with a team score of 407. Franklin County came in 12th at 443. And North Decatur finished 16th at 511. The Chargers were led by Mary Stier, who shot at 116.

Shelbyville topped Batesville 3-2 in boys’ tennis Saturday on the Golden Bears’ home courts. Bulldog wins came from Jevan Smith in #2 singles and Carson Meyer at #3 singles.

South Dearborn Jr. LB Brady Ballart has verbally committed to play college football at the University of Louisville. Ballart made the announcement yesterday on social media.

It’s another edition of Coaches Corner delivered by Ison’s Family Pizza tonight at 6 on WRBI. Terrance Arney’s scheduled guests are Batesville Football Coach Evan Ulery, Oldenburg Academy Girls Golf Coach Jason Walke, and Milan Girls Tennis Coach Carter Wade.

In NFL action Sunday, the New England Patriots upset the Bengals 16-10 in Cincinnati. And it was the Houston Texans over the Colts 29-27 in Indianapolis.

The Reds knocked off the Mets 3-1 yesterday in New York to avoid the three-game series sweep. Santiago Espinal’s 2-run double in the top of the 9th turned out to be the game winner.
Cincinnati is in Atlanta tonight to face the Braves in a makeup game from a July rainout. Coverage begins with first pitch at 6:40 on 103.9 WRBI.

In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever got past the Atlanta Dream 104-100 in overtime at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Alyiah Boston led the Fever with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup series opening playoff race in Atlanta yesterday.

Indy Car had the weekend off. The cars return to the track next Sunday in Nashville.
