Eighteen boys teams and 14 girls squads competed at the Greensburg cross country Invite Thursday evening. The Batesville boys came in 11th overall, led by senior Jaden Basler’s 46th place finish. Lawrence North was the boys meet champion with 20 points. The host Greensburg Pirates won the girls race with 31 points. Batesville was second with 41, led by freshman Francesca Myers’ 6th place finish.
Batesville Middle School cross country won both ends of the Ripley County Meet. Bulldog 8th grader Cael Luhman became a three-time Ripley County Meet champ with his first place finish. BMS scored a perfect 15 while Milan had 50. Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley did not field complete teams….The host Bulldogs won the girls race with 18 points. South Ripley finished 2nd with 45. JCD and Milan did not have complete teams. Batesville 8th grader Ana Shane came in 1st overall.

It’s Week 7 of the high school football season and we have a pair of games tonight on the Sports Voice. Elsewhere around the area tonight, Franklin County travels to South Dearborn; North Decatur welcomes in Eastern Greene; Milan hops the bus to Eastern Hancock; and Lawrenceburg journeys to Rushville. As we reported earlier this week, the Homecoming game at South Decatur vs. Switzerland County was canceled due to low roster numbers among the Cougars and concern for player safety.
Former Cincinnati Bengals Ken Anderson, Isaac Curtis and Lemar Parrish and former Indianapolis Colt Chris Hinton are among 52 Senior candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Colts kicker Spencer Shrader is the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September. Shrader booted 13 field goals and made 12 PATs for 51 points last month.
