The Pacers opened the NBA regular season last night by rallying from 12 points down to knock off the Pistons 115-109 in Detroit. Five Pacers were in double figures, led by Myles Turner who had 20 points.

The Reds and the Cincinnati chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced their 2024 award winners yesterday. Elly De La Cruz was named the Ernie Lombardi Team MVP; Nick Martinez is the Johnny Vander Meer Pitcher of the Year, and Luke Maile wins the Joe Nuxhall Good Guy Award. 

Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones is the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the team’s 21-14 win at Cleveland last Sunday. The second year man from Purdue returned the game’s opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. It is the longest kickoff return in the NFL this season and the first return of 100 or more yards in the league’s Dynamic Kickoff era.

Former Bengals offensive tackle Willie Anderson is among 50 modern-era players being considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025. Anderson was a finalist the three previous years. He is a member of the Bengals Ring of Honor, and played for Cincinnati from 1996 to 2007 before finishing his career in 2008 with the Baltimore Ravens.  The names of 25 semifinalists will be announced in about four weeks.
